Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of “meeting” horror photographer Lauren Freedman. A former local resident of the Hudson Valley here in New York, Lauren has recently departed to the Sunshine state, Florida, where I am sure that she will continue awing clients with her photographic skills.
Lauren was kind of enough to take time out of her busy schedule what with work and preparing for her move to answer a few questions so that we can all get to know her a little better and appreciate her work as well as herself as an individual.

They scoured the wandering crowd as they walked to and fro across the boardwalk, paying little to no attention to the birds. Scores of children pointed to a roller-coaster in the distance as it reached its peak some hundred feet above the ground before sliding down the steep decline that was sure to intimidate the bravest of souls.

HADDONFIELD, IL – In a fit of rage mental ward escapee, Michael Myers, lunged at a panel of judges where a local spelling bee competition for degenerates was taking place in Haddonfield High. The 54 year-old went ballistic when he understood that the word he was being asked to spell was “whore”, (W-H-O-R-E), which ignited thoughts of his deceased mother. Of course, the word was not “whore” but “horror” (H-O-R-R-O-R). Unfortunately for both Mr. Myers, and the judges, his hearing was obscured by the closed and probably rotted mask. Unfortunate for Michael because he lost his fifth straight spelling bee competition and unfortunate for the judges, well, because they’re dead.

Realizing his mistake, Mikey Myers did right by spelling the correct word then walking away in shame.

It’s been five long years since Mr. Grin last surfaced. Now, he steps out the darkness for a self-portrait to savor the moment. A lovely couple is fast asleep just a few feet away behind the door down the hall, unbeknownst of the terror that awaits them. Sleeping, they will think it is a nightmare, unaware that it will be their last and that the blood would be real.
Mr. Grin makes his way down the long, dark corridor towards the bedroom. “Hello, world,” he says with a smile.

This past weekend I was able to attend the first annual Zombie Fest in Rosendale, NY. Despite the fact that I only live a couple of miles away from the small, quaint town, it was the first time I stepped across town boundaries. First thought that came to mind as I drove through this small town with its feel of history and Americana was, “Wow, I can definitely see a Zombie Apocalypse starting here!”
I arrived near the 12:30 PM mark where, according to an advertised magazine clip, the zombie walk was to start. There were only a handful of people and I was worried that not many people were going to show. This had been the first time I had ever heard of such an event happening around my parts so I was truly enthusiastic about the gathering. For no one to show would have been utterly disappointing. But little by little, the dead arrived in horrific fashion! From children to adults to pets, they all came prepared to make those alive aware of their presence among the living. And that, they did!
