Grave Encounters has joined the ranks of the “if they can do it, so can we” phenomena that the Blair Witch Project catapulted and Paranormal Activity successfully revitalized for horror. Despite a quasi-interesting, yet rehashed, overused, unoriginal (shall I continue) premise that attempts to take full advantage of the “found footage” craze that has plagued both the theater and home video markets, Grave Encounters falls short of delivering the goods where it counted. Although I have more bad things to say about the film than good, I have to admit that it wasn’t as bad as I expected.
