Yep, like last year, the Northeast is once again hit with a pretty big storm just in time for my favorite time of the year, Halloween. Of course, my love for the “holiday” pales in comparison with the potential damage that this hurricane/tropical storm Sandy is capable of. And being that my ears have been glued to the television for a good part of the day, the damage is inevitable.

Halloween looms like so many ghouls in a graveyard! To get in the mood, fans of all things creepy and crawly curl up with some hot apple cider (Or tea. Or coffee. Or you get the idea.) and soak up some of literature’s most intense offerings. Horror piques something primitive, adrenaline-fueled, and visceral within us, and even the most pants-poopingly scary jawdropper keeps us begging for MORE, MORE, MORE! Here’s some of that more for you.

I am currently sitting in front of my computer, scared witless. Every moment could be my last. My friend is here with me and he is the sole reason why my life is in danger. It may not make sense at first, but let me explain.

It all started earlier today, when a friend of mine burst into my house and slammed the door behind him. His eyes were wide with fear and he stood there with his back against the door, breathing heavily. I asked him what had happened and he told me this story:

I’ll be the first to admit that I thought this movie would be a huge mistake. And who knows, maybe it will taint the original. But (big BUT!) based on this trailer, The Evil Dead remake looks like it may… it just may be one to look forward to. Yes, my opinion on the matter has done a complete 180° and I am now anxiously looking forward to this one.

I am really happy to say that, thus far, this does not look like a poorly made remade and producers Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell (proprietors of the original classic, Evil Dead) pulled out all the stops and looks like they are making sure that this one will not disappoint (I hope). Did I mention that it looks bloody as hell!

31Days of Horror: Friday Night Bites – Spider Deviled-Eggs!

Not much of a recipe here, unless you don’t know how to make deviled eggs ( I don’t – sue me!) Make some deviled eggs, then shape some olives into what resembles a spider, insert into egg. Done!
